Mathematics for Junior High Schools Basic 8
This textbook, guided by the Ghana Education Service curriculum, has been structured into four main broad learning areas (known as strands) with 12 subdivisions (also known as sub-strands). There are six books in the course, comprising three Learner's Books and three Teacher's Guides.

Each strand begins a new topic with learning indicators which represent the clear outcomes or milestones that learners have to achieve to meet the content standard expectations.
The strands covered in this book are number, algebra, geometry and measurement, and handling data. These strands are the domains of the mathematics content to be studied, outlined as follows:
Strand 1: Number has four sub-strands which include number and numeration systems; number operations; fractions, decimals and percentages; and number: ratios and percentages.
Stand 2: Algebra consists of three sub-strands: patterns and relations, algebraic expressions, and variables and equations.
Strand 3: Geometry and measurement is made up of three sub-strands, namely: shapes and space, measurement, and position and transformation.
Strand 4: Handling data comprises two sub-strands which are data and chance or probability.
Aside from the content in each sub-strand, this book leads learners to explore a lot of activities that are practical/experiment-based, project-oriented, and critical thinking questions that help learners to elaborate on mathematics concepts learnt.
A complete package of the book comprises the learner’s book and the teacher’s guide.
